The design responded to an Andalusian trip with the director. This fascinating experience enabled first hand research of Lorca’s legacy, Granadian landscape, and Spanish culture.

The simple design utilising a huge blood stained canvas, which was flown into various positions to echo the Sierra Nevada mountains . While transporting us effortlessly through the plays various settings. The wood floor was treated like dried, cracked, barren earth edged with mounds of rotting oranges.

****THE GUARDIAN

“a vision that is clean and clear on the surface, yet full of depth underneath. It’s a simple set for the Playhouse a large canvas backdrop peaked into a mountain scene as it is pulled up by hooks, the hoary vines of a forest just ties of thick rope – unusually stark for this theatre’s stage,  but it serves well”
